ROLE DESCRIPTION

During our Rainbow sessions, Befriending Mentors support our children and young people to engage in play and social activities according to their interests and abilities. This involves a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, sports, table games, group games, or playing pool. All sessions are supervised by a team of experienced Rainbow Team members. Parent carers always attend Rainbow sessions.

Befriending Mentors can also help out at our ‘Befriending Social Group’ sessions (ages 12–25), accompanying the young people to activities such as bowling, theme parks, and social style gatherings. The aim of this group is to facilitate and support the young people with their transition to adulthood by building their confidence, building friendships, improving life skills and social skills. The group members usually come independently and parent carers do not attend.

We also run a Rainbow Early Years session once a month. These sessions tend to be smaller so there is less demand for volunteer support. However, if the Early Years sessions are something you are particularly interested in, just let us know.
